Statewide Visual Content Initiative

A proposal by JKase & Co.

Building the Visual Legacy of North Carolina Wine

A twelve-month statewide photography, motion, aerial, and visual content initiative.

All seven American Viticultural Areas. All four seasons. One coordinated visual system.

The statewide opportunity

A durable visual resource, built across a full year.

At the end of the initiative, the Council will possess a coordinated library representing the people, places, work, hospitality, and landscapes that define North Carolina wine and grape production.

Still photography, motion B-roll, aerial imagery, environmental portraits, producer stories and events, agricultural and winemaking activity, and selected finished video deliverables would be created as parts of one statewide program — not disconnected production days.

Agriculture, industry, tourism, travel, editorial, and geographically complex production environments.

03

Yearlong consistency

A small experienced team able to maintain a coherent visual language across regions, seasons, and subject types.

04

Proven systems

Planning, production, ingest, verification, backup, postproduction, review, organization, and delivery workflows.

05

Technical capability

The production model

Regional trips turn travel time into useful production time.

The initiative is organized around consecutive production days within a region. Each trip is generally supported by one inbound travel day and one return travel day, allowing nearby producers to be grouped when practical and coverage to follow the strongest available activity, access, and light.

Producer coverage is anticipated, not guaranteed. Actual coverage depends on routing, access, activity, weather, and creative priorities.

Isolated production days

Repeated logistics, limited continuity

  • Repeated inbound and return travel
  • Repeated equipment mobilization, lodging, and administration
  • Less geographic continuity
  • Fewer opportunities to adapt to local conditions
  • More budget directed toward duplicated logistics

Coordinated regional production

More depth from every regional commitment

  • Multiple consecutive production days
  • Nearby producers grouped where practical
  • Sunrise-through-sunset production opportunities
  • Reduced repeated travel and setup
  • Greater flexibility around weather and availability
  • Stronger continuity across people, places, and process

Statewide + seasonal planning

Seven AVAs. Four seasons. Coverage shaped by what matters most.

Every North Carolina AVA will be represented, but production time will not necessarily be divided equally. Allocation will be guided by producer concentration, geography, landscape, tourism significance, seasonal activity, distinctive practices, architecture, people, routing efficiency, visual opportunity, and Council priorities.

Efficient, lightly directed coverage designed for breadth, seasonal continuity, and a useful mix of people, place, process, stills, motion, and aerial content.

Elevated campaign production

Controlled hero assets

Available only within the Comprehensive program: one approved creative scope that may include talent or carefully cast real people, styling, expanded lighting, production design, hair and makeup, controlled lifestyle scenarios, hero stills, polished motion, and finished edits.

The elevated production's final creative scope will be developed collaboratively and approved before production. Potential components are not automatically included unless defined within that approved scope.

Included Council marketing license

Perpetual statewide use by the Council.

The North Carolina Wine and Grape Council receives a nonexclusive, perpetual license to use final delivered still images and video assets for its own statewide editorial, publicity, advertising, social media, collateral, public and private display, point of sale, packaging, and related promotional activity within North Carolina.

Authorized agencies, contractors, publications, and production partners may reproduce the work solely on behalf of the Council. Individual wineries, vineyards, grape growers, producers, retailers, distributors, and other third parties do not receive independent usage rights through the included Council license.

Optional addition

$45,000

Optional Five Year Statewide Industry Partner License

May be added to any program. Grants approved North Carolina wineries, vineyards, grape growers, and wine producers controlled five-year use of designated library assets.

Approved uses may include

Managed Digital Asset Archive

Provides the platform through which approved users may find and download designated assets.

Selecting one does not automatically include the other. The detailed proposal controls the complete licensing and archive terms.

Anticipated initial archive content

  • Approximately 500–2,000 finished photographs
  • Approximately 100–150 finished MP4 video clips
  • Primarily B-roll clips of approximately 30 seconds or less
  • A smaller number of clips up to approximately two minutes
  • Finished compressed video deliverables produced through the program

Not included in initial setup

  • Raw photography or raw camera footage

Layer 02

Redundant online cloud backup or delivery repository

Layer 03

Branded digital asset management portal when the optional archive is selected

The digital asset management platform will not serve as the sole copy of the archive.

Next steps

From program selection to reserved production.

  1. 01

Download and review the detailed proposal below.

  2. 02

    Select one statewide program option.

  3. 03

Select either or both optional additions if desired.

  4. 04
